Inlays & Onlays in Carrollton, TX

When a patient is in need of a dental restoration but not quite ready to pursue a dental crown, there is an in-between option that can create exceptional results. Inlays and onlays are designed to restore a tooth in a similar fashion to a filling, but they’re milled through the same tried and true process as a crown. Inlays fit within the cusps (the noticeable bumps on top) of a single tooth, while onlays fit around one or more cusps to provide maximum support and structure. With a custom inlay or onlay, patients can retain the maximum amount of healthy dental structure they have left, which is always ideal.

The process of having a new inlay or onlay created will require two appointments. During the first one, Dr. Dandois will make any necessary alterations to the affected tooth and then capture impressions that the dental laboratory will use to craft the permanent restoration. Teeth that are visible when patients smile or speak can typically receive all-ceramic, tooth-colored restorations to maintain their cosmetic appeal, while metal inlays or onlays are recommended for back teeth that experience more pressure on a daily basis. Patients will wear a temporary piece until their permanent restoration arrives at our Carrollton, TX practice and we can cement it in place.

If you’re in need of quality restorative work, don’t hesitate to contact our practice right away. Dr. Dandois and the rest of our team are happy to answer any questions you have!
